Heintzman- the “Canadian Steinway”

History
From the company’s beginning in 1866, the Heintzman name in Canada has been known as the “Steinway of Canada.” Founder Theodore Heintzman improved the interior quality of his pianos through the innovation of the Agraffe bridge, a transverse metal bridge extending across the cast iron frame that keeps the strings from slipping, improves the clarity in the treble range, and produces a brilliant high tone. By the time of Theodore’s death in 1899, his pianos had won at least 11 awards in the United States and throughout the British Empire, including the prestigious William Prince of Wales Medal in London.

The original drawings, scale designs, and production equipment of the original Canadian Heintzman Piano Factory are being utilized today by “The Heintzman Piano Company Ltd.” The company is introducing new models as well as improving production techniques, keeping in mind the tradition of high quality and fine workmanship that was established in 1866 by Heintzman & Co. of Toronto, Canada. By using the finest materials, combined with traditional design and state of the art technology, the legendary Canadian Heintzman Piano continues! Technical information

German Delignit Pinblock
It is important that the pinblock has the capacity to hold the tuning pins tight enough by friction alone, so that all the strings are maintained at the right tension without unwinding, but still allow the piano to be tuned. To do this Heintzman has employed the very dense, hard material of beech or maple pinblock, made by the European brand - Delignit. Seventeen ply is used in the uprights and nineteen ply in the grands.

German Renner Parts
Heintzman makes available one of the finest actions in the world, the Renner action, from Germany to provide the best response for the pianist. Also, Renner hammers are standard on professional models.

Strings that Sing
International Gold Series bass strings from MAPES in the USA provide the beautiful singing quality that Heintzman pianos are noted for. Mapes premium strings are used by well known brands such as Steinway & Sons, Yamaha and Baldwin.

Canadian Bolduc Soundboard
Canadian Bolduc Co uses only hand selected, dried and seasoned Solid Eastern White Spruce of Premium quality for his soundboards. This exceptionally high quality solid spruce sound board has been utilized by well known brands such as Mason & Hamlin, Baldwin, W.M. Knabe and now Heintzman.

Reinforced Structure
The beams of the grand pianos are made of top quality solid beech wood. The poured cast gray iron plate stabilizes the over 20 tons of string tension.

Unique Heintzman Soundboard design and back posts
The soundboard on Heintzman pianos has high quality ribs notched to its edge and the unique Heintzman Accousta Bars help to eliminate undesirable overtones and allow longer sustain. The six back post structures are made of beech wood on most upright models. These are designed to increase the piano's stability.
